The Church of the Greatly Reduced Bible has, naturally, a Greatly
Reduced
Hymnal.
In fact, so far, it only has one hymn, which is becoming a bit dated.
Young people may
not remember an investigation of President Clinton's relationship with
a young intern.
Asked in front of a grand jury on August 17, 1998, if there "is" sex
involved,
Clinton famously responded, "It all depends on what the meaning of the
word 'is' is."
Since he was not impeached, one might conclude that any sin he
committed was at most
fractionally deadly.
The tune is "We gather together to ask the Lord's blessing."
We gather together, with lawyers assisting,
To ask if "Is" is, or is not, something known.
The questions explicit, the lawyers persisting,
Until at each answer we cannot but groan.
We know we are bidden to love one another,
But not in the office, nor logged by the phone.
The logs may be read, if our love is discovered,
In the halls of that great House which is not a home.
We should love the stranger, the sinner, the tax man,
As well as the neighbor who by us doth dwell.
But here is the moral, told as best as I can:
Do not love thy neighbor who doth kiss and tell.
